The LaGrange Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting involving a 2-year-old.

Police say officers responded to The Phoenix Apartments on Whitesville Street shortly after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night regarding a 2-year-old who had been shot.
When they arrived at the apartment, they found a 2-year-old who had been shot once in the face.
The toddler was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police said they are trying to find out how the child got the gun.
“It is currently still being fully investigated how the child got the gun, where the gun was, whether this was foul play or an accident,” said LPD.
According to police, two adults and three other children were also in the apartment at the time.
